Biography
Professor Shabani is an internationally recognised expert in hydrogen energy systems, fuel cells, electrolysers, energy storage, thermal management, and integrated renewable energy technologies. His more than 20 years of academic research, innovation, and leadership in hydrogen and energy systems followed seven years of industry experience in the automotive sector. He leads RMIT University's Sustainable Hydrogen Energy Laboratory (SHEL), directing multidisciplinary research, industry engagement, and technology development. His national and international contributions include roles with Standards Australia, the Australian Hydrogen Research Network, major collaborative initiatives, and editorial boards of leading journals, such as the Int. J of Hydrogen Energy and Scientific Reports-Nature. His research has produced more than 100 peer-reviewed publications, seven book chapters, several patents, and over 20 innovations in hydrogen systems. His work has attracted more than 9,000 citations and an h-index of 56. Over the past decade, he has contributed to securing and delivering more than $10 million in research and industry funding and supervised more than 20 PhD candidates to completion.
